GTrans, formerly known as Gardena Municipal Bus Lines, provides public transportation services in the South Bay of Southern California – including the cities of Gardena, Hawthorne, Compton, Carson, Harbor City, Lawndale and Los Angeles. These services conveniently transport citizens around the area along established bus routes, from neighborhoods and shopping malls to schools and business centers, seven days a week.

Riding GTrans is easy. First, check our Routes and Schedules to find the bus line and stop nearest you. Then check our Fares to see how much your ride will cost. When the bus arrives at your stop, please wait until departing passengers exit the bus before you board. Have your exact fare ready, deposit it into the farebox at the front of the bus, then go ahead and take any available seat – if all seats are occupied, or if you need to volunteer your seat to a passenger who is elderly or disabled, please move to the rear of the bus. When the bus approaches your destination, pull the cord along the windows to signal to the driver to stop. Enjoy the ride!

The BMHS School Tripper is a Line 3 bus that can take students all the way to Bishop Montgomery High School in the morning, and offers them a return trip from the school in the afternoon. Students can catch the BMHS Tripper anywhere along the normal Line 3 route – just look for the headsigns that read “3-Bishop Montgomery HS.” This service only runs on weekdays when school is in session.

If you lost something on a GTrans bus, please call (310) 965-8888 as soon as possible. Bus operators check their coaches for lost articles on every run, and these articles are turned in at the end of the day. Lost items are held for 30 days at the GTrans office located at 13999 S. Western Avenue in Gardena. Staff members are there to assist you Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Unfortunately, federal rules and regulations do not allow public transportation vehicles to be chartered to travel to a specific location or to carry a specific group of people. Sorry!

Yes, GTrans is a department within the City of Gardena. GTrans is distinguished from other City departments because it is not funded with General Fund monies, operating instead with County, State and Federal monies.
