Following the freeway
GTrans Line 5 runs parallel to the 105 Freeway in Hawthorne, Gardena and Compton, giving riders easy connections to Metro buses on El Segundo Blvd and to Metro Rail at the Imperial and Aviation Stations. Popular destinations on this bus route include Centennial High School, Hawthorne High School, Hawthorne Memorial Center, Hawthorne Sports Center, MLK Community Hospital and Magic Johnson Park.
UPDATE (Jan 2025): GTrans will continue to operate on the current weekday schedule, but now with an improved 30-minute frequency along with adding a new weekend service at a peak frequency of 30 minutes, between the Metro Willowbrook/Rosa Parks Station in Compton and the Aviation/LAX Station in El Segundo. With the addition of weekend service, GTrans hopes to provide more connections to the Automated People Mover and LAX Transit Center, when operational. Please note that once the new LAX/Metro Transit Center Station opens, the Aviation/LAX Station will no longer serve as the end of the line. Final connections will be made at the new LAX/Metro Transit Center.
